    took a year off from college to bear her child. She could have gotten an abortion even though it wasn't legal in 69-70 because her Dad was a doctor and the hospital would have granted her one  for "mental health" reasons. She insisted on seeing her child before he was taken away--she wanted to make sure she had given birth to a healthy baby.  She had taken classes throughout her pregnancy and returned to the college we had both attended, and graduated with honors.

    Years later, she told me that giving up her son haunted her every time she read a story about adopted children being abused by their adoptive parents. She still had occasional nightmares.  

    She chose not to have any other children.

    The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
