    It's very complex... do you really think people are going to weigh the merits of the 4th paragraph of some legalese? Or will they just shoot the guy, because they have a gun, are scared, and heard somewhere they can do that..?

    I once went on a cross-country trek that took me through a mix of public & private lands. There was a rumor around that private land-owners could shoot trespassers on sight. I doubted this was actually the case, but all that mattered was that the landowners believed it was the case. After I'm shot, I can't argue the point. I'm dead. So what if they go to jail after a lenghty trial? I'm still dead.  

    That's the problem with these kinds of laws... we're asking regular people to make very complex legal judgements, and when there is a gun involved, there's no chance for an appeal.

    Freedom isn't free. So quit whining and pay your taxes.
