  •  not dishonorable? (15+ / 0-)

    from Betanews

Fred Lawrence, 67, of Racine says that his 12-year-old grandson apparently downloaded four movies from the P2P file service iMesh in December 2004. The family actually owns three of the four movies, and Lawrence says his grandson had no intention of breaking, nor knowledge of copyright laws.

In April, the MPAA attempted to force Lawrence into paying a $4,000 settlement to avoid copyright infringement charges, which he refused. The group subsequently filed a lawsuit seeking up to $600,000 in damages for the illegal downloads.

the MPAA is the "head group" for the international copyright nazis who sue middle class families for 10,000's of dollars/euros over songs their kids downloaded.

it's the corporate lobbying arm of big copyright monopolists. Dodd helped push for pro-corporate anti-freedom internet bills BEFORE leaving office at Senate, and now he's continuing his work making millions doing this in the private sector for MPAA:

Hollywood’s chief lobbyist lashed out at tech companies for mounting Tuesday night’s planned online blackout to protest proposed anti-piracy legislation that has pitted Southern California movie and music distributors against Silicon Valley Internet corporations.

Motion Picture Assn. of America Chief Executive Chris Dodd, the former Senator from Connecticut, accused technology companies such as Google, Mozilla and Wikipedia of resorting to stunts. . . .

“It is an irresponsible response and a disservice to people who rely on them for information and who use their services,” Dodd said in a statement. “It is also an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the marketplace today.”

OH THANK YOU MR. DODD. the internet should be SOOO lucky that evil fucks like you don't censor the entire internet to help support your big business buddies!

Anyway my point is MPAA is evil and now you know it :)

board.  These fuckers have got to be denied wins except when someone knowingly and egregiously shit on their copyright for profit.

income gains to the top 1% from 2009 to 2011 were 121% of all income increases. How did that happen? Incomes to the bottom 99% fell by 0.4%

I said it's not necessarily a dishonorable one. In his case, it is. Come to think of it, wasn't he one of main forces behind PIPA and now CISPA?
