    time. They mostly were not in the workplace along side men. As you can see in popular entertainment as late as the early 1960's, they often had to resort to tricks or depend on connections and introductions to get a man to marry. A number of women's diseases and conditions were thought to be female emotion or hypochondria.

    Women were a significantly unknown quantity to society in his time. Today Freud's is a stupid question. In his time I don't see it as a stupid question although it was obviously an ignorant question, society's ignorance.
