    but the four liberals on the supreme court probably think it is.  

    Arguably, the states have the "right" to organize their own militias (independently of the second amendment, which only protects individual rights).

    If they do, then they certainly have the power to compel members of those militias to provide themselves with weapons.

    By federal law, almost all males between the ages of 17 and 45 are already members of the militia.  Arguably states are free to deviate from these standards and include anyone they want.

    The constitutional bases for a state (not a city) to order its citizens to buy guns and muster for a militia is much, much, much, much stronger than the basis for the Selective Service.

    Your end of the Constitution is sinking.

      declared that everyone in the town has to be part of the town militia?  That is, it's one of the requirements of living in the town, now?
