  •  We're going to have to fight them. (0+ / 0-)

We're past the point of no return. The religious racist have been convinced that social security is a ponzi scheme. That our President pals around with terrorists when he's not giving away food stamps.

They've been convinced that they are doing god's work. That our government uses sharia law. That our congress is full of communists. That vaccines are evil. And evolution is straight from the pits of hell.

    It's time.

What is so unnerving about the candidacy of Sarah Palin is the degree to which she represents—and her supporters celebrate—the joyful marriage of confidence and ignorance. SAM HARRIS

    •  Havent YOU been convinced as well? (0+ / 0-)

That you must fight a bogeyman too, that just happens to be in the same general INCOME bracket as you?

You are also convinced your cause would be just.

You have been convinced by the mirror image of the same biased dog whistling BS.

Your words are an example of what I just posted above.

It's not me who is arming up to my teeth. I voted for Obama. I believe in evolution.

I grew up in the deep south. I remember white only signs. I remember black folks having to sit in the balcony of the local theater. They entered through the back door. I remember the skinny black arms reaching through a hole in the ceiling to buy candy.

There was no outrage. There was no TV or media coverage. This was normal. Well guess what. The folks who believed that behavior was just fine are still alive. They still vote. You're in for a battle, pal.

        •  Excuse me pal (0+ / 0-)

if I may step into your bunker for a moment. Since your not armed (to the teeth), when the "battle comes", I'm trying to picture exactly what you think you would do about it, and how effectively you are prepared. Screaming "I Defy You, Aryan Mean Person" at a hail of bullets fired by a Stormtrooper of Yaweh probably means you cared more but survived less...

But more importantly yes there WAS outrage and TV and media coverage back then, the fact that your were young and a product of a white racist southern community prevented you from seeing or realizing that, apparently. It was only normal for people who looked like you, in your community that believed that behavior was just fine.

And as a mixed race person myself (half black, half white like the President, I too am evolved), I know what it feels like to be a black man, for even if I don't ID as black on the inside, much of society will make that choice for me and I live in this society on societies terms at all times. So you don't need to explain about how hard times for brown people goes or went.

    •  We are coming, Father Abraham, 300,000 more! (0+ / 0-)

If Neoconfederates want a fight, we'll give it to them.

    •  I disagree. These are not the end times. (0+ / 0-)

I have many many conservative friends and yes they may be gun nuts some of them. But I am not worried about them or afraid of them. I dialogue with them and show them I'm rational and kind. That is my way of fighting.

My avatar image is a photograph I took in 2008 of the headwaters of a waterfall in the imperiled Parque Nacional de Garajonay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on La Gomera, birthplace of my grandfather, in the Canary Islands not far from the Sahara Desert.
