    They would have captured vehicles and fuel.

    Last time they were in the South they looted like crazy. Their "resupply" wouldn't come from back home.

      literally; this enabled the NATO forces to regroup and to receive resupply and reinforcements.  Had the NK been able to scavenge enough supplies, UN forces would not have had time to receive resupply. Ref: for fallacy of depending on captured supplies for success: Germans in Battle of Bulge

      Incidentally last thing command wants is looting as it diverts soldiers from primary mission and weighs down troops with extraneous items that are unnecessary.  Ref: for problems with loot: Desert Storm and retreating Iraqi forces trying to return home with loot
