a 'fire breathing' liberal think tank.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia bio of one of its co-founders, Michael Lind.

Apparently he's co-authored (with another New America co-founder Ted Halstead) a book entitled "The Radical Center: The Future of American Politics."

Interestingly, when I 'Googled' Lind, a Centrist himself, I found the following quote from a 2010 Financial Times piece by Edward Luce:

'Forces of populism' set to rise

“Obama doesn’t have a populist bone in his body,” says Michael Lind, a fellow at the New America Foundation, a centrist think-tank. “But the forces of populism, the old Jefferson-Jackson sentiment which I think is still the core of American politics, are rising. And Obama has to find some way of accommodating them.”
