Two minutes flat, the thing's below 100º C. You can't just throw water on this kind of fire and vent the steam. It keeps right on burning. For days/weeks/years/forever.

      air cooled (that's right, no cooling.  just one guy to pull the rods up by hand using a pulley system and another with an axe to lower them in case of emergency) though they weren't run for very long and didn't produce electrical power.

        that figured out boiling water was more useful than simply stacking the bricks in a Chicago university gymnasium to see if we could light a fire.

        Honestly. That is such monumental garbage. We're done with that whole Atoms for Peace "too cheap to meter" bullshit. Have been for awhile now, in case you hadn't noticed.
