I live in the Midwest, and many of our illegal guns are traced to the South.

a lot of them come from Virginia, where there are basically zero restrictions on buying guns.

        federal trafficking legislation and enforcement.

It is not like the manufacturers and
        dealers are unknown to everyone.
These are the sources, and I am sure
they realize that the focus will soon be
directly on their 'business' models and practices.

How difficult would it be to reverse the firearms
industries immunity from torts and prosecutions?
Or perhaps some states could make the manufacturers
carry mandatory liability insurance for every individual sale?

I wonder if the Dkos RKBA would be welcome at netroots?
Allowed to have a booth? That could make for some
interesting and provocative discussions. Doesn't our
true opposition usually schedule a shadow
boxing match around the same time and vicinity?

What if they put on a gun show and the fail hit the fan?

What part of "well regulated" is so hard to grasp?

My Unicornitopian aspect hopes for some
dark matter energy field personal defense
that renders the entire debate moot, and soon.

Until then, some modest legislation will have to do.
I could tolerate a tiered license structure for the various
capacity grades and such. The veterans speaking out
in favor of background checks should also support
mandatory proficiency testing and safety training also.

Might be a good jobs program for recently returned veterans.
If anyone has earned the right to screen fellow citizens
for a potential risk of harming the rest of us, it is them.

I haven't yet decided whether to view the fact that the criminal
and conspiratorial minded would not cooperate in such areas
as a positive, or negative, on the whole. Self selection
might work to our species favor in more than one way.

Your work here on this and other
issues has been a true inspiration
in its compassionate and reasoned humanity,
considering your proximity to recent events.

Thank you for all of your many efforts.
