  •  I visited New Trier in a high school exchange (2+ / 0-)

program, you know what my young eyes saw as the key difference from it and the school I attended.....$$$$$$$$.

    •  You are absolutely right. (0+ / 0-)

Many of the suburban Chicago high schools have received national recognition for their quality.  Most, but not all, have exceptional financial resources.  Some, but not all, of them have substantial socio-economic and racial diversity.

I wonder how they are doing under the new testing regime and if it has changed their progressive approach to education.  I have not been involved with any of these schools for many decades.

      •  I attended a very good Chicago public high school. (1+ / 0-)

I had great teachers with a strong college prep program(AP classes and special programs offered off campus) but we just did not have the resources on or off campus of a New Trier.

        •  there is a member of this community (0+ / 0-)

who previously taught in an inner city school in Chicago who now teaches at New Trier - he can describe in detail the difference between the two as far as resources
