We need to find the most efficacious way of disarming them.
Who's going to do the disarming?

"with rights come responsibilities." Wrong. Responsibilities continue to exist even if you abdicate your rights.

I think that is largely why Marx thinks that capitalism will structurally cause its own collapse & Chomskian anarchists think the progressive state will eventually lead to anarchism.

All I know is that the disarming needs to happen before we destroy ourselves.

in the sense that the global capitalism has all of the guns, it was a figurative statement wrt to how we may disarm them [i.e. by taking their money - or, the more preferred way, making it worthless].

      •  Fact is that, if weapons are used as designed -- (4+ / 0-)

i.e. to kill the recalcitrant -- they are counter-productive, if the intent is to rule, because dead people can't do what they are told. Weapons are only useful as instruments of intimidation. So, what we have to do is give up fear and resist intimidation. And, the way to do that is to disobey. It's the culture of obedience that has to be resisted. Because, obedience that's coerced is the essence of abuse and abuse is the key to slavery. Liberty is inconsistent with obedience.
Equality, unfortunately, is not the key to liberty. The last thirty years have pretty much proved that equal treatment can be shoddy and demeaning. Equality does not mean good quality.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
