  •  Stix, this will give you an idea ... (12+ / 0-)

... though these were taken under a gray sky this morning:

The general flavor of the path ...

A "corner" of the loop with caged baby roses on the left and the neighbors deer fence to the right (his fence is right on the property line and the path follows it all the way up the right side of the picture) ...

    A little side path ...

Meandering around moss and fern ...

    Pretty blooming somethings ...

    Trillium ...

One of many wood piles ...

If only i started this project years ago!  By now, it would be ... oh, who am i kidding?  It will never be done.  And that's part of the glory of it. :)

    •  i love it!!! (9+ / 0-)

      oh love love love...

      the moss!!!  the trilliums!!

love the paths... and that you share it with the deer!  :D

      the flavor is TASTY!

      :D

I'm in for the day.  My knees were starting to ache.  I thought about how my head would be bonked by you if I stayed out longer...

      heh

      ;-)

    •  Oh, my goodness, (8+ / 0-)

it's beautiful. I love walking in the woods. You've already accomplished an enormous amount.

      What about the climate cliff?

        •  Well, by far the most magestic ... (10+ / 0-)

... are the Douglas Fir trees, but unfortunately, there are far too few of those within the property borders.  I assume most were sold for a pretty penny by the original developer of the land.  The one you can see a bit of to the right in the below photograph is much too wide for three long armed people to clasp hands around.  It's the tree that would devastate me most were anything to happen to it.

The other pines are Cedars, and there are quite a few of those on the property.  None close enough to hang a hammock between, unfortunately.

Another favorite is a Wild Dogwood that's right at the entrance to the path (or the exit, depending on the direction you're moving).  It has white flowers, and should bloom imminently.  I chose that spot specifically to highlight that Dogwood.

By far, the most annoying trees are the Alders, which spawn profusely, and which got the brunt of my pruning saw while i was clearing.  That's right - i said pruning saw.  I'm too intimidated by that fancy blade i linked in a prior diary.  It's so sharp and so weird, i'm afraid i would lop off something important in a moment of clumsiness or extreme fatigue. :)

There are quite a few other deciduous trees, but i have yet to learn their names.

Thank you for your encouragement, Stix.  I so wish i could take you all through it. :)

I wonder if i'd have all my weeding done by then?  Likely not i'm guessing. :)

about sweeping up all the dried moss along the path... heh.

... keep that path manicured.  If it's functional and not too terribly overgrown around the edges, that's all i'm going for at the moment.  Some day, it would be nice if it looked as lovingly tended to as the one Stix made, but that's going to be a long way off.  I have too many other things i MUST focus on (even though i'd rather be working on the path). :)

                  •  had PT today... (4+ / 0-)

and my gift to myself is to take the whole day off from work.  I could get into work after PT, but it would be for like all of 3 hours.  So I decided rather than rush around I'll use time and take the day.

It was sooooo beautiful out!!!  Didn't get on my knees today!!  But I was stooping.  Wanted to put together the large raised bed (now that I have a cleared out space!!  yay!  back to raised veggie gardens!!  :D)  Got it set up, but one side dips.  I gotta straighten it out or it will drive me crazy forever.  Haven't filled it yet with soil, so it'll be easy to do, just too tired right now.

Cleaned out one of the pond filters... the fish are loving the stronger waterfall.  I need to rethink some planning on the pond.  Over the winter, one of the filters conked out.  It was a bitch to get in and pull out everything!!  I gotta figure a way so that the pump is up high and easily accessible)  I'm pretty certain I figured things out, just gotta redo stuff.

It's soooo nice to just go and get some field stones from the pallet... and I don't have to haul stones from all over the yard!!  LOL  My pathway will be partly stone and then other parts will be mulch (like towards the back).  And since those guys should NOT be coming back, I won't have to keep replacing mulch!!!

It's looking like my solomon's seal is okay from where they were raking so hard since I see lots of points coming up.  But I don't see the bleeding heart in that area.  :(

Are you too young to remember the Bewitched episodes where she twinkles her nose and moves a gazillion times faster than everyone else to get housework or some such done?  That's what i imagine you look like in your yard! :)

Honestly, i'm thrilled you had such a good day today, and it's always so nice when the weather cooperates.  Are you sure that "dip" won't correct itself when it settles?

one side is even... the other is dipping down on the right side.  I can tell because it doesn't line up with the fence.  It will totally drive me bananas if I don't fix it.  Since I haven't even gotten top soil to put in there, I have time yet.  Besides which, it's still too early for summer veggies.

gah.  as a kid I sure wished I could wiggle my nose and make things happen in an instance!!!  :D

cloudy and windy all day, constantly looking like it's going to rain any second.  But there's been no rain, and it was 71° when I got home from work!  :-)  It was warmer outside than it was inside the house.

I have the kitchen door and a living room window open to the screen porch, and the pooties are really enjoying the fresh air.

When I got home, the water in the bird bath was almost gone and what was left was filthy.  So I washed it out and filled it back up.  By the time I got in the house, there literally was a line of birds using it and waiting to use it!  Finches, starlings, robins, grackles.  LOL.

    •  Awesomeness in abundance! (9+ / 0-)

All the moss just amazes me. It takes a lot of moisture to have so much moss, right? I envy your wetness.
