  •  Your painting looks great, Boran. (12+ / 0-)

Love the far headlight; it really pulls off the illusion. The blue tone to the highlights on the car's skin also looks terrific.

I've started a new painting since. I wanted to tackle a winter scene, so I started with this photo from a couple of years ago. I saw one shaft of sunlight coming down a nearby valley in the afternoon to illuminate the farmhouse, and did a stitched panoramic to catch it:
    Winter light

I started by toning a pano format canvas with red oxide oil paint, then wiping out the band of light with some thinner on a rag:
    Winter light 1

Next I quickly blocked in the major masses of foreground snow, background mountain, sky and that band of light. I deliberately expanded the foreground space to provide more room for the curving snow-covered dirt road, as I want a sense of the expansiveness of the valley floor:
    Winter light 2

Lastly I added the farmhouse, trying to get the sunlit south wall right, bringing me here:
    Winter light 3

I can see that the shadowed near side of the farmhouse is still a bit too light, and the background mountain is much too 'warm' for a shadowed area in winter. I'll be refining these over the next couple of days.

I love the sense of space in this one.  It's going very well so far.  It will be interesting to see how you handle things.  A very nice subject.
