    your private emails. It's every search; it's many of the websites you visit. How do you think Google Ads work if they aren't tracing your history?

    And what was the name of the book on google written by a former Move On founder? It said that, while most people think of Google rankings as standardized and objective-ish, they are actually based on your search and web history; I.e. my search results are going to tilt liberal. A Red Stater's are going to tilt conservative. And they are compiling data on every freaking thing you do.

    Good on Google for doing the right thing here. I'm not actually sure we can say, with confidence anyway, that this is totally disconnected. How do we know they aren't concerned about the public rallying against invasions of privacy? It looks unlikely right now, but the possibility is there. I just don't think we can say with 100% certainty that this is altruistic on Google's part.
