nurses training. Had to go to a pediatric oncologists office that did chemo for rural patients. I was in the exam room with the office nurse and a wisp of a six year old boy with no hair, who had been stage IV Hodgkins since he was two. He was happily talking about what was going on in his life while I contemplated what it would be like to know so much of childhood wrapped around cancer treatment.

The door opened as another nurse wheeled in an IV pole with the bag of fluid and tubing. No chemo, just fluid. The kid started retching and couldn't stop. I thought for sure I was going to faint. I backed up against the wall determined not to - for his sake.  I didn't.  In all the years since, including some horrible situations, with younger kids, I've never had any sense that I was going to faint. Incredible how clearly this brought back that day and the emotions.

Props to you, the team, the Huskers, Jack and his health care team.
