  •  Okay, you are going to think (8+ / 0-)

that I am insane, but let me tell you a little story.  Some years ago, I, too, flew with a bad cold.  I was going to see my parents who were living in Mazatlan.  When I landed, my ears were so clogged that I was almost completely deaf.

My prone-to-alternative-medicine mom made clear that she had just the thing to try.  When we got to their apartment. she took her frequently-chuckled-at knowledge of acupressure and pinched the end of each of my index fingers with a clothespin and left them there.

My dad and I both rolled our eyes.  I sat with my index fingers sporting clothespins.

And, by gawd, bwren, within 15 minutes, my right ear made this astounding whoosh-sucking noise and I could hear again.  The left ear took longer, and never cleared as completely, but, as far as I'm concerned, those damned clothespins worked.

I don't know what would happen if you did this with what you have going now, but you might give it a try.  It's cheap and you've got nuthin' to lose.  :-)

Can you call yourself a real liberal if you aren't reading driftglass?

    •  I definitely do not think you're insane. (7+ / 0-)

And you're right in that it's cheap and I've got nothing to lose. We're about to sit down to dinner. I'll take a postprandial clothespin break out in the garden. The lilacs are blooming.

      Thank you!

I came for the politics and stayed for the science.

Not that I am so much of an alternate medicine geek, but anything I can try cheaply at home first always gets my attention.

When you come to find how essential the comfort of a well-kept home is to the bodily strength and good conditions, to a sound mind and spirit, and useful days, you will reverence the good housekeeper as I do above artist or poet, beauty or genius.
