... to the blogathon team (Roger, joanne, et al) and diarists re: contacting the White House.  Phone calls and emails are a great way to reach the White House.  In your template above towards the end of the diary, also give everyone the option of sending handwritten letters to the President.

    The address is:

    Office of Presidential Correspondence
    The White House
    1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
    Washington, DC 20500

I actually know a couple of staffers in the Obama White House here in Washington, DC. Every day, 10 letters are chosen from the thousands they receive and forwarded to Lisa Brown, the White House Staff Secretary.  She, in turn, passes them on to President Obama.  It is quite well-known that, on occasion, he personally calls or responds in writing to people sending him these letters.

I don't know this for a fact about the Obama WH, but given my experience working in presidential campaigns, handwritten letters are always an effective way of reaching the candidate and his or her staff.  Also, it is quite possible that among those who lurk on Daily Kos (readers only), some seniors may actually prefer mailing a letter rather than using email.
