  •  Mistake on their part. (7+ / 0-)

Rights tend not to be rights when you can pick and choose to whom they apply.

The ACLU knew that once upon atime.  Might still.

American media and the ACLU is exceptionally large. So, y'know, let's try not to cast equivalence here, hmm?

It is time to #Occupy Media.

        Ummm....

Using the ACLU as an example of the right way to approach things is not "casting equivalence".

The ACLU used to defend nazis, Klansmen, just about anybody with the understanding that rights are rights only if they apply equally to those you detest.

That today's media doesn't understand that fundamental principle is definitely a point of shame for them.

And it has nothing to do with "casting equivalence", whatever the hell you think that means.

    •  Not necessarily (0+ / 0-)

there are times when interests decide it's better to lose, see a martyr in prison, and get Congress or the Leg to pass a stronger shield law.

"with rights come responsibilities." Wrong. Responsibilities continue to exist even if you abdicate your rights.

      •  Yup. But they don't do it in silence. (0+ / 0-)

That's not what's happening here.  The media are -- SHOCK AND AWE WHO'DA THUNK IT? -- just a bunch of self-important hypocrites.

Which might have something to do with why they are so beloved and why some people prefer to get their news from comedians like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, not to mention David Letterman and Jay Leno.
