  •  AoT, i didn't tell him to get a job. (0+ / 0-)

i asked him if he'd considered doing what i do for a living, because i personally think he would be great at it and it would work with his health issues.

computer programming is a white collar job.  it's not like i asked him if he wanted to put coupon bags together from home for a living.  and it's not like i go around telling everyone they should be a programmer.  i don't.

jesus, AoT.  try a little harder to see the good in what a person does.  just a little harder.

    •  You didn't, but in regards to this conversation (0+ / 0-)

it comes off as the same. I was not trying to attack you, just pointing out something that I think is important to know. You obviously meant well and I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear. It's frustrating to have people just say "have you considered this" and think they're helping. It's more helpful to give more specific information. Like "If you're interested in programming as a potential job you can take steps x,y, z, and here's where to get started. It's not as hard as it seems and I can help you get started."

General advice is generally useless to people in a bad position. Speaking from experience, I can't tell you how many people have told me that I just needed to start my own business because otherwise I'd have to work crappy jobs my whole life. That doesn't help me at all.

If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.
