  •  That's my situation (5+ / 0-)

Early SS is a form of unemployment insurance for me. No job. No health care. Morale is sometimes a problem.

I'm long past giving this president and the Village dems any benefit of the doubt.

The law, in its majestic equality, gives the rich as well as the poor the right to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to eat dumpster donuts. - With apologies to Anatole France

that due to Mr P's 42 yrs at one company, they RIFTED him with a year's full salary.  This gave us time to make some plans.  His retirement savings was held by the corp through this period.  He had already taken a 1/3 hit on it during the early Bush years.  But we found a financial planner who has helped a lot, and were able to wait another 1 1/2 years to start SS.

We cut to a lower middle class expenditure level, which has helped a lot, and enabled us to do some traveling.  The guy at Fidelity can't believe how low our cost of living is.  Both of us came from parents of the Depression, so we know how to cut back.  House maintenance has taken a hit, though.

We know how fortunate we have been, and see all around us, people who just got dumped with only 3 months pay, and have been forced to start SS early.

      Take care -
