We have BRCA 2 in my family. My mother died of breast cancer in 1964. We didn't know about the genetic risk until my sister had a 'bad' mammogram. She had a mastectomy, we have both had our ovaries out. So far, now both well into our 50s, we are OK. I struggled with whether to have a prophylactic double mastectomy - decided against it but if I have any, ANYthing on a mammo or MRI then it's goodbye to both the 'girls'.
