  •  I am so sorry for your loss (11+ / 0-)

I survived.  But my attacker had a knife.  I had a fighting chance.  I'm sorry.

    •  Violence is (7+ / 0-)

an epidemic that seems never satiated.  I am horrified to hear you were attacked like that - grateful you survived but this world is not a very nice place.   I wonder sometimes about the wisdom of having brought children into it.

Justice For Will Will spent his brief, courageous life fighting for the rights we all take for granted. Please share his story to support the fight!

      •  Violence is our American Pie it seems, sadly (5+ / 0-)

American's thrive on it.  Why else would we tolerate it so much?

We walk by so many souls who need help as we pretend to look at our cell phones.

We ignore those in need.  As we go to a mall to buy cheap shit we don't need.

We pretend it will never happen to us as it's happening to others.

We want to control people's very lives, who they can marry, what they can do to their bodies, whether they can use marijuana as a medicine.... hell, we regulate the heat of coffee.  But dare speak of gun control and the people freak out.

More guns is not the answer.  We need to destroy the NRA.

There needs to be some other org that SANE gun owners can belong to.

thank you for sharing your heart and soul with us. xoxo

We pretend it will never happen to us as it's happening to others.
it reminded me of the statement by David Wheeler, father of Ben, who was murdered at Sandy Hook. He said (paraphrased): You hear of these incidents. But it's someone else's town, someone else's school, someone else's child.....(tearing up) and then it's not.

You know, the Senate started some kind of fund regarding suicide. Former senator, Gordon Smith, had a son who committed suicide. And the Senate took action. Sen. Rob Portman has a gay son, so he's now for marriage equality. Why does it take something personal to get it through to our elected officials that they need to take action?

While this is a beautiful diary, and it makes me feel extremely sad, it also makes me angry. "How many deaths will it take 'til He knows that too many people have died?" The answer has to stop blowin' in the wind.
