  •  Mailed My 5 Return Envelopes Today (10+ / 0-)

3 for Fed, State and City 2012, and 2 for business 2013 1st quarter estimated tax. The 3rd incorporates 1st quarter estimated tax on last year's annual.

I have it worked out to generate a modest overpayment, which means that on April 15th the total amount I send everybody is about the same as the estimated payments I send everybody the other 3 quarters.

I set up all the returns linked appropriately to the Fed on a multi worksheet Excel spreadsheet. Basically 1980's Lotus technology. After entering all the biz's expenses and mileage, it's only a couple of casual nights to punch in the few conventional incomes and household expenses, and we have our printouts to copy onto the official forms.

We pay some significant local taxes here in my over 150 year old Ohio rustbelt inner suburb, but they buy us some serious services including strong schools, countless parks, immediately snowplowed winter streets, recycling, a program of buying up abandoned houses so that there is not 1 written-off street in town --all this for a working class town with below US median income.

So I don't fret either the state or fed taxes either.

Civilization still works if only you consent to operate it.
