    that Democrats are just going to collect the payroll tax and not return it in benefits, it will be a lot easier to sell the privatization argument.  Especially if the oh so clever Obama Robin Hood argument that we're really going to use your middle class Social Security money to take care of those other poor folks backfires.

      Maybe some will, but you overestimate the GOP's ability to form a coherent coalition. There's a significant portion of their base that want to destroy SS, now they are running to save it? After running on privatizing? After harping for years that SS is unsustainable? Really? In a blink, they will just overcome all their baggage? And cohesively turn on a dime with the message that THEY are the saviors of SS?

      Really? You think THAT's realistic?
