True story.  This morning I received 4 phone calls (I finally answered around 8:30 when I saw the caller's name/no. on my TV screen) from the St. Pete (Bay Pines, FL) VA Regional Office regarding a VA Claim and an Appeal of the rating on a separate  VA claim that have both been in for seventeen months, with no hint of when they will be decided.

There is a gigantic backlog of VA Claims nationwide & Tampa/St. Pete is one of the worst, with the VA IG being involved and the Whie House having had its own oversight of Florida cases/backlogs for at least a year.

So I learned that the White House contacted the St. Pete VA Regional Office on my behalf in response to an inquiry I submitted at  Simple as that.  I was told exactly where I am in the queue - 5,900 of 18,000.  That is something good to know.  Something to touch.

Honestly, President Obama has his faults but being a veteran who has already benefitted from his devotion to supporting all veterans, I can say I love the man.  He is genuine and real.  He stumbles sometimes - I don't need to hear about Chained CPI and changes in veterans' benefits levels.

I am over sixty-five.  In life there are compromises.

    President Obama is a gem.

that will be derisive of me and those who believe in the president.  OK.

But I know incompetence.  This president is competent and he is not a corporatist and he is not right wing on anything.  I am more like Senator Bernie Sanders in my world view.  I know that the US is in big trouble because of unbridled capitalism and the attached abuses of our people.  President Obama is working hard for the people.  Damn, it is as if I am channeling MLK ("I have been to the top of the mountain...") and I may never see the fulfillment of equality for everyone in the US (straight/gay. women/men. lower/working/middle/upper classes, etc), but I do believe we are on our way.  President Obama helps & does not hinder that.

the Hell No Chained CPI group.  The reason the president is doing some things is because we are holding him accountable.  I believe I should not nor you should have to fight against some of these policies left over from Bush and he is getting the base fired up but maybe not in the way he wants.
I stand by all of my criticism of the workings of the backlogs which are ridiculous and stand by these Hell No Blogathons.  He is not doing the best he can and as an advocate I will preach to either side I feel is not doing us right.   I speak on behalf of all the veterans...who feel they are getting a raw deal.....I spoke of you in a diary just last week of waiting so long........Susan 29 is a widow and has not received her widows pension.  I cannot handle a chained CPI and I continue to raise Hell.  The president called on our behalf last year as well.   He may want to keep that line open considering I still got some complaints on the way things are going.

Congrats on the call......peace my friend.

We the People have to make a difference and the Change.....Just do it ! Be part of helping us build a veteran community online. United Veterans of America
