    Very typical of Conservatives and Libertarians.  They have a formula they try to apply to any subject of public debate, being first and foremost "faithful" to that formula.  

    He applies his "individual freedom" formula to the Civil Rights Act, and it doesn't quite work.  To me, his rationalizing is, rather than an objection to the intent of the Civil Rights Act, Paul being faithful to his formula because he "knows" that it is always right.  This is more important to Paul because he places less value on what is decent and human.
