  •  Heelo my dah'lings, (26+ / 0-)

    In for a splash today!

    Cheers!

Lovely warm weather today in Prague. I'm keeping half an eye on some seeds that are just beginning to poke their heads up in some pots on my balcony. Hopefully there'll be something to transplant once the danger of frost is over. The cucumbers, tomatoes and zucchini were the first to germinate quickly followed by some pumpkin seeds I'd saved from last year and then a couple of leftover purchased pumpkin seeds decided to wake up-- haven't bothered putting them into any soil yet. This morning one of the varieties of pepper that I'm planting is showing signs of life.

Spent most of the morning tied to my computer working on a design for a book cover and getting some of the mechanical workings of a web site figured out. The friend I'm making the site for was over this afternoon for a couple of hours to check on the progress of both projects and have me take some photos of a few of his latest sculptures.

Here's a recent photograph from my latest diary that went up last Friday:

Pretty low-resolution-- no hogging bandwidth for this werelynx. But hey, 'tis Spring and I shouldn't be taking up any more of your time when there are birds out there singing.

    •  You live in Prague? (14+ / 0-)

We spent a week there 15 years ago -- I thought it was the most beautiful city we've ever traveled to... We signed up for a guided tour, thinking that we'd learn about the city, but it was the single worst tour in the history of tours. The guy was monotone, completely devoid of personality and offered zero insight into the culture or the history. So we walked all over by ourselves and read placards instead.

      Beautiful, beautiful city.

      •  I've lived here since 1992. (11+ / 0-)

And I first visited here back in 1989, the summer before the Velvet Revolution so I've seen a lot of changes to my fair adopted city.

Sorry you had such a rotten tour. There's so much to see and so much history! I'm constantly discovering something I'd never known about in areas I thought I knew quite well. Whole parks jump out at me occasionally downtown.

Here's one of my photos of Saint Vitus Cathedral in Prague for you:

And here's a photo looking at Prague Castle with St. Vit poking up out of it-- taken from a vantage point that most tourists never see:

And finally an unusual photo taken from a walk on a wet day along the Vltava River where St. Vitus is barely seen as a spiky gray outline on the horizon (just to the left of the top of that boat)

        •  Sigh... I'm so jealous (6+ / 0-)

We did meet a lot of delightful people who were happy to share their city's history, so we were able to gain some interesting background, but I craved more...

Thanks for the photos. The city is absolutely divine!
