    I'm not sure how that is determined for voting, and it's somewhat concerning as to how that standard might be applied.

    In any event, even those judged mentally incompetent can't be any less thoughtful in their voting than many of the Tea Partiers, or the fucktards who simply vote based on what Rush Limbaugh or some bigoted fundamentalist preacher says.

      Who are brain-dead, severely mentally ill (as in "court-ordered institutionalization" ill), or severely mentally disabled (as in "mental capability of a child" disabled). I think in all of those cases, it's impossible to expect someone to comprehend what they are doing when they cast a ballot.

      In quite a few states. Table here.

      Obviously, if a person has a mental disability but is still able to understand what it means to vote and is considered to be a person of majority in the eyes of the law (i.e. not a ward of the state or of parents/guardians), they should absolutely be entitled to vote.
