  •  The vet didn't seem too alarmed but he did (6+ / 0-)

give Beast a big dose of vermicide. He also got a shot of steroid to help with a skin allergy, which may have kicked in fast....on the way home Beast really perked up, I thought he was going to tear the carrier apart.

I see there was a bonus fly on the quince blossom. Quince is so beautiful it would be nice to bring inside. But the flowers all grow along the sides of woody branches, so it's not really suited for a vase. Anyway, flowers always look happier outside.

    •  Also perhaps an earwig (6+ / 0-)

hiding in the next blossom up from the fly?

Forget-me-nots and apple blossoms here. And pear. And cherry. We're hoping for gentle rain while the fruit trees bloom.  Too often we have hail and/or driving rain this time of year, and little or no fruit later.

I came for the politics and stayed for the science.

      •  You're right! Blooms (4+ / 0-)

really bring out the insects, don't they? Good eye bwren. Yes, I don't know how much damage that hail did to my cherry and apple blossoms, which are full out right now. Though to be honest, I rarely get many cherries. The birds do. I've tried covering the trees with netting but I can't get it taut enough - birds tangle in it. My blueberries and raspberries have rounded supports, so the birds bounce off the tight netting.
