Sue came home after a day spent head down in her office, working on a paper. (taking advantage of the "no meetings scheduled" day)  I asked her about Gordon, her former co-worker and one time fellow grad student, the only person I knew well, that had done the event before.

She said "his last name is Fitzgerald, but he hasn't raced in years, his  knees aren't up to it".  She went upstairs to check her personal email account, and the Globes web site.

She came back down, saying "I see why you asked now".

Random recollection: A week ago, we were driving to the accountants office to sign forms, and hand over checks.  The route had us crossing Comm Ave in Newton.  I saw a stack of barrier fence segments, and I noted the preparations for the run.

I have bicycled the route, but not recently,  (a group of us used to ride it the day before) I have never been a runner.  I guess this means I should do something about organizing one for next year.

The route comes about 3 miles from the house, the finish is under 8 miles away.  On Sunday, we were at Symphony Hall, less than 1/2 mile from the  bomb site.  I have patronized Marathon Sports.

This planet needs a lot more kids who think taking a lawnmower apart is more fun than playing a videogame.
