to respond to this but since 6 people so far have recomended it, I feel I have to respond with more than just snark.

Are you saying there is no such thing as an accident driving a car since cars don't just fill themselves with gas and put themselves in drive?

and to the comment you were responding to:

the odds of a bullet striking someone are not controlled by the "angle being just right" -- no one was aiming the shot.
Imagine you are standing in a room with four walls.  You can not see what is on the other side of the wall and you have no idea when the gun will go off.  A silent, moving target is placed somewhere out side of the room you are standing in.  It could be upstairs, in the basement below or on the outside of any of the four walls.  If you are in the center of a 12'x12' room, for every 1° of travel, you move laterally 1.25" and the same goes for up and down.  So, if the kill zone on an average person is two 9" dia circles, you can calculate the precise odds of a kill.  1:1,271.  That is assuming they are pressed up against one of the six walls.  The farther they are from the wall, the greater the odds become. Just a little bit greater than the 50:50 odds you suggested.
