For a distinguished example of meritorious public service by a newspaper or news site through the use of its journalistic resources, including the use of stories, editorials, cartoons, photographs, graphics, videos, databases, multimedia or interactive presentations or other visual material, a gold
    medal.

Awarded to the Sun Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale, FL, for its well documented investigation of off-duty police officers who recklessly speed and endanger the lives of citizens, leading to disciplinary action and other steps to curtail a deadly hazard.

      And I remember the series.

There was a big stink about an officer busting another officer from a different division who was doing about 120 on the turnpike.

Fortunately, the arresting officer was vindicated.  The public was up in arms over too many cops getting away with breaking the law.
