    appropriate right now, if they come from Bostonians or visitors to Boston today.

    As I posted on another diary: the British on 7-7 were all, "I didn't know the French were that pissed" (about London being awarded the Olympics) or "I've been blown up by a better quality of bastard than this" (referring to IRA bombings and the Blitz).

    It's ok if you're not up to joking, but I think overall the impulse to turn to humor is a good one: it can relieve tension, it can restore some sense of normalcy, and it can demonstrate a most laudable defiance.

    I, for one, would be very happy to never again go through a national consensus that "Everything Is Different Now", since that's generally used to promote phony wars and giveaways to the rich.  "Everything Is The Same As It Was, Now I'm Trying To Think Of A Good Fart Joke" is much healthier for those not personally affected.
