  •  what bollocks. (8+ / 0-)
fuck you if you think it's inappropriate to say so
Man, sometimes you're so smart and insightful, and then other times you just rant like this.

Nothing you said rules out the possibility that the person responsible for this is just some unstable lunatic with no obvious political agenda. Like Jared Loughner. Or this guy.

The whole point is that you don't know. You're confusing knowing with believing.

that it was an insurance scam by one of the victims, but the publicly-known circumstances of the attack don't indicate that like they do domestic terrorism, so I'm talking about the picture that I do see rather than one that is possible but not indicated by the available information.

Democracy is a habit, not a circumstance.

    •  And sneering at people who are ... (20+ / 0-)

...wisely suggesting (as many have in the past suggested) that no group be targeted until much more evidence is in. Otherwise, what's the difference between this and the fuck-you-if-you-think-it's-inappropriate speculators after the Oklahoma City bombing that its was Middle Easterners who carried out the attack?

Don't tell me what you believe, show me what you do and I will tell you what you believe.

common sense, circumstantial evidence, and the repeated recognition of the limits of all of the above as currently available.

of pushback here against speculations that wingers are behind this attack, there also is a significant measure of support...

        whereas

Alex Jones' "false flag" bullshit is roundly, universally and properly rejected on DKos. Either the door is open for speculation or it isn't. I don't see how we evaluate which speculations are beyond the pale and which are edgy-but-permissible.

When you triangulate everything, you can't even roll downhill...

Park Bombing, a man who saved at least dozens of lives, was dragged through the mud for months for no better reason than that he was white, male, socially awkward, worked a low-paid job, and lived with his mother that maybe this "profiling" shit would get dropped.

with speculation on upcoming legislative proposals, etc.

So many tea leaves being read into what will actually come out, and sometimes we keep up appearances of the pre-release positions that led to outrage even when the actual legislative text should otherwise help to minimize the assumptions that led to such.

It's a political site and this is what we do, consistently, for almost anything: we speculate.

I don't think anyone should take what is being said here to heart or pre-damn any particular party or belief system from the discussion herein, though when the potentially guilty parties are located the evidence and ideas brought out here may help to better analyze what truly comes to light.

If it takes on a life of its own and we go into the rabbit hole of premature, hardened positions, then I have a problem with speculation.  But, I have that issue with any subject on which we speculate here.
