  •  All good points. (6+ / 0-)

I would note, however, that the likelihood of a terrorist attack randomly falling on income tax and Patriot Day would seem (I don't claim statistical expertise) to be 1-in-365.  Maybe somewhat greater if it was just a random selection of highly public events, but it still seems pungently tea-scented.

this year and not thinking at all about the others.

South Americans often first thought 9/11 was about Chile and Pinochet.

      •  We don't know whether the Boston Marathon (2+ / 0-)

was targeted for reasons specific to the event or if it was just conveniently aligned with any or all of the other significances of the date.  There are tons of other highly significant events year-round.  The one that got picked was the one that holds major significance for domestic terrorist groups.

this is the only huge public event all year long in Boston that isn't garrisoned, making a bombing much for convenient

          •  True. However, that would argue for domestic (0+ / 0-)

since international would seem more likely to just pick a different venue rather than be guided by a particular city's schedules (unless that city were New York or DC).  And having that kind of broad perspective about the level of security doesn't seem like lone wolf stuff.

            •  I agree, but not from speculation on my part... (0+ / 0-)

              intuitively, I sense it's domestic.
