    tragedy:

And whenever he, she, they or it is found (and they will be), whatever it is that they believe in should receive an equal measure of contempt, disdain and horror.

I don't have a clue what it is that could have motivated this terrorist act. But whatever it is surely deserves to die as swift a death as the perpetrator planned for his victims.

    but it's incomplete.
The preachers or "entertainers" who drove that ideological mindset to believe today's tragedy is a desirable event?

Contempt is not enough. Disdain is not enough. Ostracism is not enough. Fiscally and spiritually and morally and socially, they must be driven into the dust and isolated ever afterward.

    •  Yes but we're all ideological as well. (4+ / 0-)

So the real issue is at what point the means to achieve the ideology that drives us becomes something unacceptable--to the point of being a horror unto itself.

Terrorist like this are men. Angry white men. Guaranteed.

      •  Hmmm... not even a bit of color? (0+ / 0-)

Seems to me I've heard about 19 men, many of whom were of a medium skin color, who caused quite a lot of damage in NYC, DC, and PA a few years back.

Fight them to the end, until the children of the poor eat better than the dogs of the rich.

Gudrun Ensslin? Leila Khaled? Kim Hyon Hui (under orders from Pyongyang, she blew up 115 airline passengers in 1985)?

Women, not all of them white, do indeed commit such atrocities.

The Rote Armee Fraktion (RAF) had approx. 50% women members and approx 80 women supporters according to author Eileen MacDonald in her book Shoot the Women First (New York: Random House. ISBN 0-679-41596-3), which attempts to dispel stereotypical myths and male fantasies about such women.  She interviews 'members of the Basque separatist movement, the Italian Red Brigades, the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Irish Republican Army and the German Red Army Faction.'  An editorial review from Publishers Weekly stated

She is very definite, however, in her belief that women revolutionaries have "much stronger characters, more power, more energy" and are "far more pragmatic" than their male counterparts.
This is all speculation about Boston anyway until there is more info.  Nevertheless, it's a healthy way for people to vent their rage

    •  So if it happens to turn out to be a Muslim group (1+ / 0-)

we are then going to turn on anyone who believes as some of the Muslims do?  Just because some do, doesn't not mean all do.

I think we are to disdain the individual monster who did this and not some belief system....especially before we even know who did this and what belief system he or she or they may have.

Anyone can turn a belief or idea into something awful if they are a monster to begin with.

If it turns out to be the Westboro Baptist Church (altho I have my doubts they could pull something like this off without lots of cheap help) why not hold that fact against all preachers of hatred whatsoever and wheresoever and in whosoever's name they preach their hate?
