    The 90->32->15 payout structure already pits the poor against the middle class.

    The real culprit is the insistance that Social Security is nothing more than an insurance program.  The irrational belief that you must cling to that story also keeps the responsibility for Social Security from being spread to the wealthier members of our society.  Somehow, we believe the middle class are more capable of supporting poorer workers than are the wealthy.

    Or maybe we just identify too much with the 1% and see it ok to exploit those without the good sense to be richer.
