  •  Recipe for organic granola follows: (5+ / 0-)

    3 cups organic quick oats
1/2 cup organic regular rolled oats
    1 cup shelled sunflower seeds
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup organic vegetable oil (I prefer olive oil, believe it or not)
1/2 cup honey or rice syrup
    1/2 cup molasses

Mix everything together, sweeteners added last. Spread out on cookie pan and bake at 275 for 5 minutes. Take out and mix again (to spread sweeteners more evenly throughout). Bake at 300 for 5 minutes, check for browning, then back in the oven and check every couple of minutes until browned to your liking. Break up when cool.

Pour whatever you like on it- you can get your protein some other way, anyhow.

I will try it. It works for me I only ever have olive oil.

We have only just begun and none too soon.

Organic quick oats again, boiling water:oats  3:1, let stand say 1/2 hour, blend the heck out of it, strain, flavor as you wish. Put the leftover solids into something you bake.

It's not as proteinaceous as soy milk but it's organic. I don't have the patience to do this very often but it's pretty good and can be the basis for a smoothie.
