  •  I ended up at a farmer's market in Normandie (0+ / 0-)

About a year ago. Table after table of fruit with the most marvelous perfume. Each vegetable a work of art. A food truck making crepes. A vendor selling wine.

    Such a beautiful memory.

The farmer's markets here are not quite so wonderful, but the produce is good. The trick with farmer's markets is to avoid anything packaged, except bread and cheese. Pasta, desserts and such are the most likely to be frauds. They are also hellishly expensive. It's hard to fake a ripe strawberry- and all the vendors give tastes.

I buy all my produce and bread (if I am buying bread- usually I make it myself) at the farmer's market.
