  •  "Progressives" as per DK definition (0+ / 0-)

Do not constitute the majority of voting Americans. Informing you of that is not "punching". This noting popular on DKos that all that needs to be done is --- well that's never stated - but somehow the Silent Majority will arise and every progressive goal will be achieved w/o effort.

Sorry, life does not work that way. Progress comes slowly, incrementally, and in the American system at least, through compromise.

    •  So "progress" only occurs in baby steps, but shit (11+ / 0-)

like W's monumental, bathtub-filling tax cuts can happen in a political eye-blink.  Jeeze, too bad we aren't right wingers: our ability to affect change would be enhanced by orders of magnitude!

Change can happen quickly even where momentum is non-existent (as in the Bush tax cuts); your assessment is colored by your expectations and/or predelictions.  We know what's possible (not just from the Bush Juggernaut but also from FDR's legacy), and that's why we're pissed at Obama.  He doesn't have one hand tied behind his back.  But he does have one hand behind his back, voluntarily, depending on the issue.

"Well, yeah, the Constitution is worth it if you succeed." - Nancy Pelosi // Question: "succeed" at what?
