    from my mother growing up.  The basic message from her was "Don't have sex, and if you do have sex, use protection."  A simple message that acknowledges the ideal and the potential reality.  I don't remember any sort of info about contraceptives in school, either good or bad.  The most I remember is the term "petting" which I've never seen outside of health class.

    I wish these people would recognize that hearing condoms don't work doesn't discourage young folks from having sex.  It only means they'll have sex and not bother with condoms because, hey, they don't work anyway.  Why bother?

    I'm likely making this up as I go along.

      Now that you mention it, I've never heard that term outside of sex education either, at least not with that particular meaning.
