Been monitoring the situation all day here.  Avg rainfall so far 6 inches, some areas over 6.  Rain line just south of I-80 as of 1 pm but moving up towards the Chicago area once again.

Most rivers won't crest until next week they say.

Metra is a mess.  Severe service delays due to flooding or signal issues.   A number of south suburban Metra Electric stations closed due to flooding.

Edens Xway should be reopening very soon.  Too many roads closed to mention.

Crews are working on the sinkhole at 96th and Houston to pull 3 cars out.

500+ flights cancelled at O'Hare, 30+ at Midway.

Lisle, Lombard, other suburban towns under state of emergency.  Governor to tour the area this afternoon.

    Crazy day here.

    •  A mile from me, Route 59 was shut down (0+ / 0-)

where it goes under a train viaduct just north of the (formerly) Fox Valley Mall.  Cars and trucks were going through our business park  to get around it.  A big 'ole mess for hours.

Looks to have cleared up now though.  Hopefully the next line of rain won't be so heavy.
