A tiny population on a huge land mass.  If you had a population migration into the state for recreational opportunities as Colorado has seen over the last forty years you could change the nature of Montana politics just as it's changing in Colorado.  Barring that, Montana is likely to become more and more like Wyoming.

First of all, I don't consider more than one million Montanans to be a tiny population.  We are way over crowded for my taste.

Second, there has been a constant migration of people moving here from the West Coast and it has changed our politics.  Montana used to be more progressive, more pro-union and more liberal back in the 1960s and 70s.  But the migration of wealthy conservatives and libertarians has made it much more right wing.

Still, Obama lost the state in 2008 by only 2% of the vote.

Why do the one million people in Montana get two Senators, who have fucked the rest of the nation over and over again, btw, when the one million people in Dallas don't get two Senators for themselves?  Or the one plus million people in Houston, why don't they get two Senators for themselves if the one million people of Montana do?

Damn small population states and their conservative Senator are, literally, killing us.

Who the hell wants to be part of a political movement that has as its most obvious feature politically correct prune lipped moral scolds and incessant guilt trips about how much we all suck?
