Then why make the comment describing that fantasy? What  goal did you have in mind other than smugly preening over what you see as ironic justice of a disaster killing people in a state whose governor is on record not being big on federal disaster relief?

You'll note Kos managed to make his point without any sick comeuppance fantasies. Yet you were compelled to do so in your very first comment. So what did you want out of that? Applause? Hoping that someone would carry your baton a bit further and say, "Hey, it's cool---I will be that guy" or even "No dude, you totally should be that guy because it's okay: they're probably conservatives who voted for Perry?" do you really think any comment, no matter how callous, can be negated by a weasely, "Oh, but that's not how I think! That's what a heartless person would think, which I am relating to you randomly, not how I feel at all."

and reality and between knee-jerk reactions and principled responses. The truth is, people of all political stripes have knee jerk reactions sometimes. Often times.

What I have gotten out of it, actually, is an interesting thread of discussion which is precisely what I had anticipated.

I'll admit my comment was in poor taste. This is Daily Kos, not a Merchant-Ivory Edwardian drawing-room period piece.

if it was written as if it were.

I hope that the quality of debate will improve,
but I fear we will remain Democrats.
