    boats. In the course of things this often involved thunderstorms in the midwest, which your average boating newbie is usually a surprise as it unfolds.

    It's definitely a small percent of people who can be blindsided with so dramatic an event and remain oriented. It's the stuff of Bond movies.

    I've watched hundreds of people within arms' reach of me, and that kind of composure at that moment is rare. I would say more but to a handful of people I'd be publishing my SS number.

      I imagine that if I was near a bombing I'd be calm just because I wouldn't believe that a bombing had just taken case.  Somehow I think if I were out on a small boat, I'd find it very easy to believe that there was bad weather and consequently be terrified.

      I don't doubt you, but... what about the older guy in the center foreground wearing the dark blue Red Sox sweater. The experssion on his face is positively jovial. How composed is he? Oh wait... he's not the one you're looking for. Confirmation bias, I think it's called.
