As long as we gleefully shoot our own in circular firing squads.

I've begged people for years to turn their guns on the true enemies of the country instead of each other, but they keep firing away and we keep declining further.

And then the same folks doing the shooting scoff and try and tell me there's no connection between their shooting and our decline.  Preposterous.

    •  I have to disagree (0+ / 0-)

The culture wars are over; the left has won.  The days of Anita Bryant, Jesse Helms, Lee Atwater, and others spewing hatred to win elections are over.  It no longer works consistently.  Economics, not identity politics is  the new battleground.

Neoliberal Democrats and the right side of Neoliberalism (the Republicans) are the true conservative ruling class of the Beltway Bubble.  Have we had a center left Democrat since LBJ?  (Carter, Clinton, Obama.)

The freshman Democrats in the House are more conservative than the Dem caucus as a whole.  You can thank Steve Israel  and the DCCC for putting "Blue Dogs" in safely gerrymandered districts.

I"ll finish up, I have to leave the house, but I'll finish up with one observation, I do not think Obama "means well."  He is and has been a neoliberal to the core.  He was never a progressive, in fact, progressivism is anathema to him.
