  •  I just heard a third college kid (9+ / 0-)

say they recognized him in the pictures yesterday but didn't call authorities. One of whom remembers having a conversation with him a year ago where he said he didn't think terrorism was bad in all situations.

    And didn't call?!

    Kids these days.

    •  fellow traveller! arrest that kid! /nt (0+ / 0-)

    •  Yes that I do not get as at least one was a (0+ / 0-)

college student, the other was recognized by high school classmates. Yes I believe some called but those who did not, those ones mystify me.  But I am thinking the FBI did get a lot of calls after the pictures were released yesterday. I just saw an interview with a girl who is a neighbor of theirs and knew them to see them.

Remember back in the day we all mocked the Bush/Cheney TIPS line as Orwellian overkill.  Encouraging people to report on their neighbors smacks of the Gestapo/KGB.

Said student may have thought that either a) he was having one of those overly philosophical moments where you justify stupid chit, or b) he was just venting.

Sadly, this turned out to be the 1 in 100,000,000 instance where the call would have been justified.  As frustrating as it is, though, I can't blame the person for thinking they were just talking out of their ass.

I heard something secondhand recently.  I'm still considering what to do about it.    It's NOT an easy call.
