  •  if they have accomplices, it does. (18+ / 0-)

Not to mention, how do you check for other bombs in the city with people out and about?

This is a city that's been rocked by 2 bombs, people killed and maimed, a police officer killed, another injured, a shoot out on a suburban neighborhood - complete with grenades being thrown out of cars at police, and another bomb found in a Boston neighborhood across the Charles River and quite separate from the center of Boston.

I have 2 family within a mile of Watertown and 2 others near the financial district, and I'mm very happy with how this has been handled.  Give us a break.

Street.  Both he and I think it's overkill.

        Than not doing enough.

        •  Israeli view: A great victory for terror (0+ / 0-)
This was terrorism’s great victory, its spectacular triumph, its abhorrently glorious day in the sun. Never, in the history of violence aimed at innocent civilians, have the lives of so many been disrupted so much by the relatively amateurish actions of so few.

More than a million people cowered in their homes on Friday, under curfew, gripped by fear. The U.S. army and other security forces invaded and occupied an American town. Helicopters, armored vehicles, soldiers in full battle gear and crack SWAT teams sealed off streets and conducted house-to-house searches.

tell me that! Just kind of throw up their hands and say, no biggie, we'll just let known murderers go free. Is that what you want? If not, then articulate something useful.

You didn't even try to answer my question. Tell me what they're supposed to do instead. Not use helicopters? Not set up a perimeter? It's a fucking active manhunt, it's not precautionary. They cannot allow this shithead to get away. That would be the height of irresponsibility.

And I strongly, strongly object to the use of the term "cower" in this instance.

                •  That's not the problem (0+ / 0-)

The problem is the "suggestion" that people, even far from Watertown/Cambridge, stay off the street.  What could be more enouraging to a would be "terrorist" than seeing that he could shutdown an entire city long after the attack.

9/11 was how many years ago?

And it's not after the attack, since they're still tossing explosives and shooting cops.

As long as we don't go and invade Chechnya, or whereever, I think America is going to make it through this okay. We've got big problems, but a manhunt for a known murderer just ain't one of em.

I notice you still....still....haven't suggested what you might do tactically in response to the situation as it's unfolded that's different.

                    •  This was not 9/11 (0+ / 0-)

Although the media coverage would suggest otherwise.  As I'm sure any nut who can construct a bomb will see.

I said the difference I have is with the "lockdown."

what would do differently, for third or fourth time?

Paleo makes the absurd claim that this is next step to a police state, still haven't seen a single suggestion as to how this should be handled differently.
There's one or more terrorists on the lose in the area with explosives and they still don't know where he/they are.

"The problem is the "suggestion" that people, even far from Watertown/Cambridge, stay off the street."-Paleo

And you know that the suspect(s) haven't moved beyond Watertown/Cambridge yet...how?  Cuz I still haven't heard that he/they have been caught yet despite the massive search.

            •  I don't know. What are the Iraqis supposed to do (0+ / 0-)

in the hellhole we've built for them?

him or someone else gets hurt or worse walking around in the middle of a massive manhunt.  Same idiotic mentality that leads people to insist on staying in their homes during a hurricane, except this time it's the reverse with authorities telling people to stay in instead of leave.
