..that the terrorist here has been identified and is known to be within a cetain radius.

The rest of the country who isn't glued to a TV is not exactly quivering in a puddle of our own fear-sweat and piss.

    We went to work.

And to the commenter, you're wrong about the involvement of the British military. There were all kinds of lockdowns, curfews, and limits on travel at that time. Especially in Northern Ireland.

And I know of which I speak, because I was living there at the time.

The Northern Ireland situation was more akin to say Bahrain, rather than what happened in Boston. Follow my link, and you will see that Londoners faced bombs on more than an annual basis.

..and you're right... I may have conflated the operations in NI as opposed to what happened in England.

However I don't recall any bombings in which the perps were immediately identified and a manhunt ensued in a deeply urban area. If they were identified, they were more likely assasinated by MI6.

The IRA very often gave warning beforehand so that innocents could be evacuated. Granted, some of those bombings were not sanctioned by the IRA.

in Boston either. It took a couple of days. But I am sure with facebook face recognition software they had a good idea of who they were looking for before releasing the photos, which spooked the assholes.

Sometimes "softly softly" is better than calling in the national guard.

          •  Agreed. Looking at the TV machine... (1+ / 0-)

...it looks like massive over-kill. But if they didn't do it, our politicians would be open to charges of "not doing enough," "soft on terrorism," and all the other canards that come from the Right. Especially, Cthulhu forbid, if someone else loses their life to this piece of shit waste of oxygen.
